Eat a peanut butter and jelly and add 33 minutes to your life. Hot dogs, not so much.

How many hot dogs have you eaten throughout your life? Take that times 36 minutes. That’s how much life you have robbed from yourself.

That’s what a new study is suggesting. They studied a bunch of foods and the effects on health and then ranked everything. Apparently all the processed meat in a single hot dog on a bun will knock off just over a half hour of your life. On the flip side, eating a serving of nuts, like cashews, will add 36 minutes back on the clock. My favorite finding is that a peanut butter and jelly sandwich adds 33 minutes. I wonder how that’d change if it were one of my famous peanut butter and M&M sandwiches?

They broke the foods into three categories. The best are nuts, fruits, field-grown vegetables, legumes, whole grains, and some seafood. No surprise that the worst included meats.

By the way, someone did the math and found that Joey Chestnut, a world famous hot dog eating champ, had chomped off 1.3 years of his life because of hot dogs.
