Clint Eastwood won a $6.1 million lawsuit last Friday. Some skeezy CBD company out of Lithuania thought it was smart to use his picture in their advertising. In fact, they made it seem like Clint had given them his personal endorsement to their products in an online article. It had a fake interview making it look like a national morning show was interviewing him. They went out of their way to make it look legit.
It wasn’t and Clint sued three different CBD manufacturers.
They had also used a picture of Clint from “The Good The Bad and The Ugly” so the company that owns the rights to that joined the suit.
It was an easy win. The companies being sued were given summons and never responded or appeared in court. So, they lose millions.
Considering that they didn’t respond to the summons and how quickly underhanded companies in foreign countries pop up and disappear, it’ll be interesting to see he ever collects the money.
By the way, CBD products are meant to help people relax. Why would you ever put a picture of a cowboy Clint Eastwood handling a gun on your advertising for CBD? Clint face would be the last thing I’d expect on anything meant to help you chill out.
