If you could change Facebook’s name to something else, what new name would you give it?
It’s being reported that Facebook is going to change its name in an effort to rebrand itself.
Fun fact, Facebook wasn’t originally called “Facebook”. It was called “The Facebook”.
If they do, it’s be an obvious attempt to get rid of some the heat they’ve been under recently, especially the whole whistle blower thing from a couple weeks ago. That seems almost too transparently weak, though, if they don’t plan on other changes. I mean, a rose by any other name and all that.
It seems like, back in the day, I used to be able to see stuff from all of my friends all the time. Now, it’s the same 10 people out of the hundreds of Facebook friends. I see the same posts, from the same people, in the afternoon as what I saw in the morning. Sometimes they stay there for days.
And enough with the ads that are based on a search I did. 9 times out of 10, if I did a search, I found what I was looking for and got it before the onslaught of Facebook ads kick in. I don’t need more than one toaster or balaclava or lawn mower. Sweet Mary, I looked for lawn mowers in the market place one afternoon, bought one that same afternoon, and marked that I bought it two months ago. I continue to see ads for lawn mowers multiple times a day.
Zuckerberg mentioned something about transitioning from a social media company to being a metaverse company. Basically that means going from a company that just oversees a platform where people share messages to a company that would also have its hands in online games, cryptocurrencies, augmented reality, and anything else that has anything to do with being online with users interacting virtually. They want to expand and monopolize. Companies like Facebook, Amazon, and others are looking towards a “Matrix” lifestyle, just without all the cool kung fu.
