Now that were celebrating a new year, maybe it’s a good idea to review and reboot our vocabularies?
Lake Superior State University in Michigan released its annual list of words and phrases that need to be BANISHED in the New Year. I had know idea this was even a thing. Below is this year’s list of what we should stop using (or overuse). . .
- “Wait, what?”
- “No worries”
- “At the end of the day”
- “That being said”
- “Asking for a friend”
- “Circle back”
- “Deep dive”
I don’t know about you, but I use these phrases all the time. Like all of them. Apparently the Bic-tionary (hehe) is need of an overhaul according to these . . . “experts.”
There’s also the pandemic-related phrases: “New normal” . . . “You’re on mute” . . . and “supply chain.”
