New insect named after Taylor Swift.

By Austin Michael Apr 20, 2022 | 6:55 PM

Taylor Swift recently received another honor. A new species of millipede has been named after her.  Derrick Hennen, PH.D., is the scientist making the discovery and doing the naming. He did it because the new critter was found in Tennessee where Taylor lived for a while. That, and he loves her music. Derrick posted a picture of the millipede and wrote, “This new millipede species is Nannaria swiftae. I named it after Taylor Swift! I’m a big fan of her music, so I wanted to show my appreciation by naming the new species from Tennessee after her. A high honor!” He named another one after his wife. If I could have a new species of animal named after me, I would like it to be a monkey; Harryis Austintinus or something like that.
