If you watch less TV, your chances of having a heart attack will go down. That’s according to a new study that kept track of half a million people for 12 years. They found that people who watched more than 4 hours of tv a day were at the highest risk of developing coronary heart disease. People that watched 2 to 3 hours a day had a 6 percent less chance of getting it. And those who watched less than an hour a day were 11 percent less likely to end up with coronary disease.
Just sitting around is part of it, but scientists also think it has to do with the fact that a lot of people watch TV after eating dinner which is usually a high calorie meal. Because people will sit and watch for a couple of hours after dinner, it leads to higher levels of glucose and lipids in the blood. Also, people tend to snack a lot while watching tv. FYI, coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States.
