The first ever commute in a personalized flying vehicle has been done in Italy. Every story I’ve seen uses the term “Flying Car” in their headline, but it’s not a car. It doesn’t have wheels and can’t roll down the road. What it can do, is take off from your back yard and land almost anywhere. It looks like giant size version of the consumer drones. It has four or the downward facing propellers. Also, it’s electric with a 20 minute battery time and can go about 65 miles per hour.
It’s a pretty tight fit. There isn’t any room to carry anything else, so it’s not real practical yet. Also, you have to wear protective gear and the whole thing is open to the elements. But once they work in a glove compartment, coffee cup holder, a blinker only hlf the people will use, and a way to be distracted while driving, it’ll be a true flying car.
