There’s a push to get flag football put into the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. I wasn’t aware that adults play flag football. When I was a kid, we had a YMCA league up through 6th grade. We started tackling in junior high. There were two types of players back then in flag football. There were kids like me without much money who played in jeans, t-shirts, and whatever shoes you had. Then there were the rich kids who showed up in miniature NFL gear: the leggings with pads, shoulder pads, helmet, and cleats. There weren’t many of them, so they stood out.
Flag football is going to be at the World Games, but it’s not quite what it is here. It’ll be 5 on 5 and teams only get a new set of downs if the pass the 50 yard line. There are 20 minute halves.
Are the regulations on the type of Velcro that can used in adult flag football? There are different strengths. Actually, the NFL has an entire site dedicated to flag football rules. This makes me feel old. They don’t use Velcro anymore. Flags are held on the belt by a plastic pop socket. We had Velcro when I was a kid. Half the time they fell off on their own.
