A large factory in the UK is turning carbon dioxide in the atmosphere into…. Baking soda. Science! Tata Chemicals opened up one of those carbon capture plants that will help try to deal with climate change. And apparently put out stuff that they used to use as toothpaste back in the 1940s. Seriously though, they’ll be selling that baking soda to other companies that make glass, washing detergents, pharmaceutical products, food, animal feed, and more. They are literally going to pull money out of thin air.
I don’t know how they do it. They’ve got a new patent on it and are tight lipped. But it’s new tech that will let this plant take enough CO2 out of the air to equal 20,000 cars every year.
And, maybe in the future, I’ll be able to say that part of my homemade banana bread came out of a car’s exhaust pipe. Yay!
