That’s it. I’m done with lakes. There’s been another case of brain eating amoebas. Last month, it was in Iowa. That person passed away. This new infection happened to a teenager in Florida. He’s been fighting it for a few weeks, but is still in intensive care. Climate change conditions are making it easier for these amoebas to flourish. Infections become more common as water levels in bodies of fresh water get lower and the water warms up. Sound familiar lately?
I’m just going to stomp in mud puddles like when I was a 4 year old. We were living in a trailer park in Kearney. There was a rainy day that made a a big puddle in the dirt road that ran through the area. I remember finding great joy in sitting in that dirty brown puddle; splashing while getting caked in mud all over my face and clothes. I wonder what it’d be like now if I were to invite some friends over and added rum to the mix.
