Restaurant tries to pay with food, not money.

I know inflation is terrible and the economy is starting to feel it, but I didn’t think it’d gotten this bad. A Chick-Fil –A in North Carolina posted a help wanted ad where they asked for “volunteers” who would work for free chicken instead of money. The ad was posted on Facebook saying that people could earn 5 free entrees per hour. It’s since been deleted.

The company that owns that store is pushing back against people who pointed out the Federal Law, The Fair Labor Standards Act which points out that you have to pay employees with money. They’ve released a statement saying it’s a volunteer based opportunity intended for people who think it’s a good fit, saying it’s different than full or part time work. They went on to admit several people had already signed up for it and done it.

I don’t think Chick-Fil-A corporate were happy about it. They’ve since announced the “volunteer” program has been shut down. They also pointed out that it was the decision of a locally owned franchise and not Chick-Fil-A national.
