A Syracuse man set out to overcome the odds…… to rise above……. And to test the limits of his endurance and his pumpkin.
Last Saturday, Duane Hansen got inside a hallowed out, 846 pound pumpkin, and started paddling down the Missouri river. The plan? To travel from Bellevue to Nebraska City in the pumpkin and beat the World Record of Floating In A Pumpkin which was previously 30 miles. Duane did it after spending around 11 hours in a pumpkin…… paddling down the river. He texted Sunday morning that he was physically exhausted. I bet. Duane’s not a spring chicken anymore. He’d just celebrated his 60th birthday on Friday.
I think this is awesome. Always be doing something different and crazy if you can and you love it. Age ain’t nothing but a number. My orthopedic doctor tries to tell me differently, but what does he know?
HERE’S THE LINK to his Facebook page with pictures from his record breaking, pumpkin journey.
